I was leaving gun show to pick up my mag from the gun check station.when there was a guy checking in his weapon while I was going out and I looked down in utter disbelief. I mean I did a full blown three stooges head loop that Curly would have been proud of. I saw a genuine Jennings J-22 on the table before me. A guy was actually using it as a CCW. My son in law was ahead of me so he missed it and I started to yell for him to to come back and behold it but instead I started to bust out laughing. I looked up to see the proud owner talking on his cell.
He looked at me with a look of confusion. I saw a lot of funny things at the show but that is fu. I just cant believe A. Trusting my life to a 22cal. $ 75 pistol C. Having the guts to show it in public. Originally Posted By delacrue:It's not a bad design, actually.

The biggest problem with the J-22 is that it's made out of pot metal or zinc. They'd be more reliable if made with better metal parts.True.
That and better QC.Basically it would be the old Baby Browning or Colt 1908 but in rimfire.I'm one of the few that DO believe that.22LR and.22WMR do in fact have a very small place in serious CCW applications. I don't do it personally, but I know that there are plenty of others that do because there is a steady turnover of these 'ring of fire' guns as well as Beretta bobcat, the Taurus copy of the beretta, and NAA derringers selling at the local gunshops. Addtionally, EVERY CCW holder that I know who has carried for any more than 10 years, owns some sort of.22LR or magnum mouse gun.But personally, I'd only consider the NAA derringer/mini-revolvers to be acceptable in this task. Obviously a whole new set of rules of engagement must be assumed to even carrying a CCW in.32acp. Trust me, a.22magnum coming out of one of these things would make an M2 crew flinch and any thug consider action to cause it to NOT go off again. If the thug runs or beats you into a bloody pulp depends on your first shot.

6 rounds of.22. Does not matter what kind of ammo, sub sonic, hi velocity, any bulk pack, etc., it will not make it through a whole magazine without jamming.
Last winter we were out shooting.Stripped it down and cleaned it completely. Ran it dry and still had jams. Cleaned it up again and tried to run it wet and stillhad problems. The sad thing is it is my buddy's hd gun. He's too cheap to buy a different handgun.oh yeah. What's that?Jeasus,How good of a buddy is he?If he was one of my good friends and was facing that obstical, i'd offer to buy the damn thing for $250 so he could go get a used S&W model 10 from J&G or something.
Just act like you love his little gun and really want one, but can't find one like his. Or just do a straight-up trade and wait for the next gun buyback to get some $ back on it. The thought of one of my friends protecting their family with a J-22 would weigh on my concious.Sig is doing the $200 cash for clunkers program Maybe you both can upgrade. I am not joking tha tlittle thing amazed bystanders.
I could hit a shot gun shell at 10 yards pretty consistently. I love 22LR, just not as a PRIMARY CCW as this guy was, back up maybe.
ZZZZZZZZZZZ na make that a 38. I saw a lot of funny things at the show but that is fu. Not!Dude, no need to be mean. Not everyone can afford one of these for their CCW. I bought one back in college just to screw around with. Even as a broke college student, I scraped together enough cash to buy a Kel-Tec P11 as my bedside gun.It was reliable if kept clean and used with Stingers. But even then, after a few years, it started doubling and tripling consistently. Almost once every mag. It went to a gun buyback (for a profit) just a few years ago.Like others have said, I'd be very interested in seeing one made with quality materials.
It's a decent design (except for the 'safety'), just poorly executed. I'd happily pay $200-ish for a steel version with Taurus quality, since that's what a NIB PT22 seems to go for anyways.
Since that doesn't exist, I now have a Beretta 21A to fill that role. Originally Posted By mrcameraman:I bought one back in college just to screw around with.

May as well treat it as non reloadable under stress. Originally Posted By ampn:I think it's a good choice.22 kills more people than any other round. The Guy behind me at the show saw the whole thing and started talking to me on the way out and told me he was a marine with 26 years of service and worked in the emergency room while working for his degree and told me that he saw 22lr bounce around in the human body and do tremendous damage, more than larger calibers What a day at the gun show.

If the thug runs or beats you into a bloody pulp depends on your first shot.I have a 9mm carry gun. However, I find myself actually carrying my 1.125' NAA.22WMR companion way more often.
I understand its shortcomings, but, its a lot more convenient and easier to conceal than the larger pistol. I don't carry a reload for it, because I understand that I will never have time to reload it in an emergancy. It's better armed than no gun- and as long as I do my part-.22 magnum can be damaging enough (and that thing is friggin' loud).
And for the record- I tried a Kel Tec and can't hit squat with one. I like shooting a Beretta.25 ACP tip-up, which is fun and accurate (and 100% reliable, esp in.25acp), but the pistol is larger than the little NAA and UI trust the ballistic performance of.22 magnum more. The pistol was also a great price.
